“My dream is to be a singer-songwriter. I want people to understand mental illnesses a lot more, and I really hope to contribute to that understanding with my music.”
“Were you inspired by personal experience?”
“Yes. I used to have depression and anorexia, and music was my escape. It helped to heal me, and I want to be able to help other people who struggle with similar problems. I think music has healing power. I also like how you can bring your own story to any music. You can hear a song, and it can mean something completely different to you than it does to the person sitting next to you. I find that really beautiful.”

Watch Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr perform together at the Grammys.

"Once Upon A Dream" - Lana Del Rey

I thought Lana’s take on “Once Upon A Dream” was hauntingly beautiful. Can’t wait for the film!

Time Machine Special

Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday (1988)

Trudging slowly over wet sand
Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen
This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down
Armageddon - come armageddon!
Come, armageddon! come!

Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Hide on the promenade
Etch a postcard :
"how I dearly wish I was not here"
In the seaside town
…that they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come - nuclear bomb

Everyday is like sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands
(and on your face…)
(on your face …)
(on your face …)
(on your face …)

Everyday is like sunday
"win yourself a cheap tray"
Share some greased tea with me
Everyday is silent and grey

Written by Steven Morrissey and Stephen Street

This week’s song of the week is in honor of release week for Young the Giant’s newest album Mind Over Matter. I had a rough time choosing a song from the album to post, but “Anagram” was my first favorite and ranks in the top songs on the album. Album review coming soon!
